Im so sorry ahaha i hate myself

                         Sam stephens

Mental health is very important, talk about it!

     Important things to talk about

There is a serious stigma  concerning mental health and neurodivergent people, and no one seems to  realize it. Yes, we have mental health week and it is great. It allows for discussion and conversation, not to mention the feeling of acceptance you can get from such a great week. But aside from that a lot of neurodivergent people get almost no recognition at all. You can't participate in this really great thing, and after it, just go back to not caring. That's not cool and you aren't doing anyone any favors.

In school, if you don't have a "serious" enough condition or problem you often times don't get the help that you need. The issues we face are seen as excuses and we should just try harder. That is not how this works. You do not get to judge how hard I am trying by your standards. It's sometimes hard enough to get up in the morning and deal with the interaction that I don't have the energy for. Trying harder takes a lot of effort and you can't excpect change to happen out of the blue one day. You can't really expect that out of anyone.  It's completely irrational.

Sometimes it's even worse at home. Parents refuse to take their children to therapy or the doctor or whatever it is that they need, and usually this is because parents think that they know better than their children the things they are going through. Despite the fact that they never dealt with this specific problem before. Neurotypical people tend to downgrade divergent people, thinking that they're judt being dramatic or over reacting. Ignorance is a major issue and kids often times don't even feel comfortable talking to their parents because they know that they won't understand of take the time to just listen to them.

Be nice to us. Don't treat us like a totally different species because we're a little different from you. I am not other, i am a human being and I deserve the respect given to neurotypical people. There is no reason to be afraid of us or be weirded out. Get over yourself.

im sorry mr winter

You're my wonderwaalllll

see top of page a6 for artice

1. senator Ted Cruz has decided that he's gonna be friends with Donald Trump. What a loser. Donald proposed a truly terrible plan for fixing the country and Cruz is being strangely fine with it. This happened sometime around monday or tuesday, it doesn't give an exact date. It also doesn't tell you where. which i guess is unfortunate? Ted is only being friends with Trump for business reasons, because trump most definitely will not win (thank god) so he thinks that Trumps supporters will eventually come over to his side. The reporter probably went to the debate and heard about it first hand.
2. the story is significant because it lets us know what's happening in out politics if we didn't or can't see the news that day. And we need to know what's happening in our county and who exactly our leaders are going to be.
3. The article doesn't really tell you the sources used, but i'm guessing that the author was there to witness the events that occurred. It seems pretty balanced to me.
4. I guess i want to know if Cruz is eventually going to just not deal with Trump anymore?
5. it was an okay article. It had a nice ending and had a bit of an opinion in it but yeah it's good i guess.

see top of a18 for article

1. American teens suck at exercising and need to start doing more of it or they will all die of 50 diseases all at the same time. These studies have been done over long periods of time and don't exactly have a set date. Most students get the majority of their exercise at school, and less everywhere else. The author probably talked to the people who did the studies about it to get the information.
2. it's important because we need to exercise more.
3. the sources come from the people who did the study. they are credible because they did the thing
4. I have no unanswered questions
5. it was fine. not the best but it's okay.

see bottom of b2 for article

1. The Bastrop Adoption Center is being overcrowded yet again, and might have to start euthanizing some of the animals to make room. The Austin Humane Society has taken in a few of the animals, but can't really take anymore in so Bastrop is kind of stuck.
2, Story is significant because animals deserve love and homes and to not be killed for no reason.
3. The author interviewed Erica Thompson who is the county director of animal services. It's credible be cause she is involved with the goings on of the shelter. Story seems pretty balanced.
4. I have no unanswered questions.
5.  I liked it because it's about animals and animals are always a good time. Someone should start a snake adoption center to be honest.

see bottom right of b6 for article

1. Austin pastor Henry Lee was arrested on monday for continuous sexual harassment of a 14 year old girl. He was the pastor at First Baptist church.
2. this is kind of close to my neighborhood as I live on the east side of Austin. It's really nerve wracking to know that this happened so close to me.
3. The author looked through an arrest affidavit and that seems pretty credible because it's an affidavit. It's balanced.
4. no unanswered questions
5. I think it was a very important article, and definitely should have been written .

see the right side of  a3 for article

1. a police video of  white police officers tasering a 38 year old black man was leaked. The mayor is super angry about it and has demanded change.
2. significant because racism sucks and no one seems to really take it very seriously.
3. doesn't tell you the sources of information, aside from the mayor.
4.  racists are stupid, why do they continue to breed?
5. it was good. I feel like the more we talk about this kind of thing, the less of  a taboo topic it becomes.

current events thingggg

Lets get controversial

      1. All Syrian refugees must now go through new screening procedures if they are looking for resettlement. This measure from the Paris attacks and the fear that it could happen in the U.S. at any time. The Senate doesn't exactly know what's happening with it after thanksgiving, but something is definitely going to happen. Barack was very upset at this bill thing, and said that it was religiously discriminatory, and that it was wrong for only the Christians in, and not the Muslims. There are tons and tons of tourists coming into America every day, and none of them get extensive background checks and two-year waiting periods to get in. America was founded on immigration and to keep these people out is going against history and what we stand for. It's a double standard.

2. The Austin City Council has eased up on regulations for building garage apartments. The two main benefits of relaxing these regulations would lead to less expensive housing, and as a way to provide supplemental income. Kathie Tovo argues that allowing garage apartments could override some neighborhood plans that had decided against them. Tommy Ates and Sabino Renteria said that the only way they could live in a garage apartment, was if they lived in that neighborhood. I don't really have an opinion, because I don't really care??? idk

3. My council member person is Ora Houston.

4.  Federal regulators approved a genetically engineered salmon for eating, so now you can eat salmon without thinking that you're going to die. Yay. The opposition has argued that the safety studies were inadequate and that if you were to accidentally release the wild salmon, it would mess with the environment that the normal fish live in. People filed a lawsuit over this thing, so i mean the decision took a while, plus it's the 1st approval of its kind ever. The chief executive of AquaBounty is pretty delighted and surprised about the decision.

5. Don Zimmerman proposed a resolution that would block Austin's Government from spending money to help the Syrian refugees settle inside the city. Council member Greg Casar and Mayor Steve Abbot both agree that it is a very xenophobic and gross resolution. 1,225 refugees arrived in Austin in 2013. Sid Millers facebook post has a picture of a bunch of rattlesnakes and under it was a picture of a bunch of refugees arriving in Austin. It's gross and I dont like it at all. The democrats said that the post fanned the flames of fear and xenophobia.

6. Raphael Holiday killed his 18-month-old daughter and her two young half sisters in a fire. He is the 13th person to get killed this year by the death penalty. That is half of all the executions this year. Gretchen Sween says that Holidays court-appointed attorneys abandoned him after the justices in june refused to review his case. Holidays trial attorney filed an appeal saying that the conviction and some trial testimony were improper. The attorney general's office appealed the execution warrant.

death row is a thing

Wow I love everything

1. Alfred Dwayne Brown was convicted for shooting Charles R. Clark, a veteran Houston police officer as well as the store clerk Alfredia Jones.

2. Brown said that he committed no crime and was innocent.

3. October 2005, the jury sentenced him to death.

4. The article was published Wednesday, May 14, 2014

5. Brown said that he made a phone call on the morning of the crime at about 10  a.m to his girlfriend from to where she worked.

6. The prosecutors told the jurors that Brown was at an Apartment complex with the other perpetrators washing up and etc.

7. After the case was closed, Browns attorneys found a phone log with him and his girlfriend talking at 10:08, which is pretty much when he said he had called her.

8. A document was found that showed that the prosecutors had requested the records shortly after Brown's girlfriend talked about the phone call.

9. The appeals court hasn't done anything in the last year to open a new trial, and no one is sure why.

10. Falkenberg says that we should do something, and reopen the trial.

11. Brown is probably going to be killed, because the justice system sucks all the time no matter what.

12. I think it's really more of an informative piece, which is probably better as its a very important topic. I've seen a lot of columns/articles that are formatted this way, and it's not like it's really unique. The writer does put their opinion in at the end though so that's chill I guess.

I hate myself

editorial thing I guess???

1) Kingsbury uses visuals and descriptive diction to highlight the the physical harm and labor kitchen workers often have to go through. He talks about long scars lining the forearms of these workers, and people are always pretty interested in the morbid icky things, plus really it's unacceptable to put people through that kind of labor without citizens getting rightfully pissed.

2)  the two related trends to provide context are the widening income gap and the exploding restaurant industry.

3)  she argues that the policies for anti-raising wages are very unimpressive and dismisses them by talking about how the number of employed citizens has increased since they stopped giving out below minimum wages.

4) She talks about the children of the workers and to think about they're wellbeing, as well as saying that raising the wages to minimum wage would be the best way to combat income equality where the gap between the wealthy and poor is a vast difference.

5) she says that the restaurant industry has workers that have a poverty rate more than three times that of the rest of the countries workforce, along with the industry hosting seven of the ten worst paying jobs according to federal labor statistics.

6) according to Kingsbury, diners should argue that workers shouldn't support establishments that don't give their workers the wages that they deserve or any benefits that people who don't work in restaurants would get. Lawmakers should get the courage to reject the demands of the National Restaurant Association

 7) the NRA is responsible for the tipped minimum wage-under which restaurants are allowed to pay their workers just 2.63 with the hard-to-enforce understanding that tips will make up the rest of they way to at least $8 per hour.

8)  The restaurant owner blame these problems on slim profit margins amid intense competition .

9) but kingsbury says that it wouldn't change the competition, as every outlet would have to play under the same rules and demands.

10) some bostonians are there illegally and have to string 2-3 jobs to make ends meet and barely even have living conditions.

11) the paragraph talking about Filiberto Lopez adds a feeling of connection and human interest that wasn't there before, as these people exist and deserve to be given better conditions

12) Wage theft is huge, and starts when employers don't pay overtime.

13) wage theft in Boston is very common and collected more than 1.7 million in back wages in 2013

14) Kingsbury says that the mayor should streamline the permitting process, and to pass an ordinance prohibiting employers guilty of wage theft from getting/renewing their permits.

15) The article/column doesn't end in a quote, but does have a very final verdict. There is a vindication there that lets you know that wage theft and breaking the law is not to be tolerated or ignored. It's pretty typical I guess for a conclusion, I know that i've written conclusions like that before so idk.

story thing wow amazing ahahahahahaha

Gender neutral bathrooms becoming topic of interest in schools

A student walks up to the door of the girls bathroom, hunching their shoulders and sighing wearily, distress clear in their features. Taking a deep breath, they open the door and walk in. This is everyday for the gender-variant students at most high schools. The lack of gender neutral bathrooms is leading to even worse dysphoria and anxiety in the growing numbers of gender-variant kids. Because of social media information is easier to get a hold of and these kids finally have terms and labels to put to how they feel, and this makes them understand themselves so much easier. But schools are still refusing to acknowledge this change, still believing in the set rules of the gender binary. Gender neutral bathrooms, and the protection of gender identity in general would help so much with school productivity and motivation, because when people feel valid and comfortable in their bodies and around other people, grades and participation and generally being a healthy happy person will improve. These bathrooms would start to lessen the epidemic of depression that is steadily rising in the majority of trans students. "I think that believing in a set gender binary is hurtful." Said freshman student Miranda Hynes. This just goes to show that despite the fact that we are teenagers and we are changing, we are still aware of the danger of the ideals the older generation is pushing onto us. It's okay to challenge people and to think these "strange' things, or to try and change to world into a better place that people can feel safe in.

"I can understand some teachers and administrators being concerned with boys and girls using the same bathroom, but then again, by doing that you aren't including everyone." said Hynes. How is it that kids from 14-18 can understand how hurtful this binary ideal is, but grown adults can't?  With the logic being used by some parents and teachers, they are more mature and knowledgeable about most everything that we are stilll learning about.

Bring Home the Bacon (or not)

1. A panel of experts concluded on Monday that eating processed foods like hot dogs and etc, increases the risk of colon cancer, as well as a raised risk for other cancers where general red meat is concerned.

      2.  many environmentalist groups have called for warning labels on packaged meats, and the meat industry is pretty outraged.

      3. Group 1 means that the processed meats have sufficient evidence that they will give you cancer. The chairman of disease prevention says that the risk of cancer or other risks is lower than smoking and alcohol, so it is imperative not to push people into denouncing red meats from their diet completely.

     4. The cartoon doesn't portray that at all. he's just an ignorant person.

     5. Randy is more on the side on the opposing side of this whole "let's all the meat that has ever existed", as he makes the meat eating guy both super obese-probably because of all the meat-and also very bullheaded and ignorant. The guy abstaining from meat is in a suit, which gives the notion or perspective of higher class and education, making suit guy a lot more informed than the i-love-meat-guy.

   6.  I do eat some processed meats, but not a lot as far as I know. Most of my meat is literally just meant with no additives.

CURRENT EVENTS ACTIVITY 2.2

1.  The Bastrop fire's potential causes are a farm accident and an intentional burning, as there was a burn ban placed there a while ago. At 10;30 a.m, officials let residents who live in the burn area to return to their properties. The estimates for covering the cost of all the damage done by the fire is probably going to be hundreds of millions of dollars. The interviews that the reporter went out and did give the story more of a personal feel. Instead of just covering the topic and leaving it detached and just full of information, they go out and talk to the people affected and the things they say make it more relatable. Like they aren't just faceless people who don't exist to us, they have families and valuable things and they exist

2. Paper textbooks are being replaced by digital copies, while the old paper ones stay in the classroom at all times. These digital copies of the textbooks is a lot cheaper and help prepare students for their computer dependent adult lives. For the Robertson family, helping their daughter with her geometry homework was a struggle, and they said that it was hard to go from the examples and the instructional pages and the pages with the problems, so the father dropped 75$ for a geometry textbook and that solved that. Melinda Prepster, a teacher at Gorzycki Middle School, said that it's a lot more interactive and able to be understood easier. The Eanes district has tablets and computers for every student, and are one of the few who do. While Austin and Leander have underestimated the amount of textbook copies needed for the classes. My feelings about it are pretty positive. I think that considering different students learn different ways, textbooks that have just writing and examples might not be enough for some students to fully grasp the material. I think it also saves a lot of money for more important things like art and music programs, instead of spending money on tons of textbooks that some students won't even understand. In my science class we have digital and printed copies of textbooks. i think it would be a good topic for The Shield, if only because of the fact that this is a school newspaper, and this is school related

3. The newest elected Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is making huge changes. He is legalizing marijuana, dropping out of the U.S-led bombing campaign against the Islamic state, as well as deficit spending to pump up the economy and rebuild infrastructure. There will be a change in Canadian policies on a broad spectrum of issues. The relationship between the US and Canada will most likely get stronger, as Obama and Justin are philosophically similar.

4. Alan Guckian, a High School band director, is up for a national award. The award is the 2016 Music Educator award, and inspirational musician SaulPaul volunteered him, as he was an obvious choice. Guckian has made it to the semifinals and said that if he wins he is throwing a pizza party for his students, but not to mr. Gatti's.

Current Events Assignment 4

1. Parks and Recreation people get two free VIP passes to ACL. Tom Donovan received the tickets this year, and the foundation defended it, saying that it was for work purposes. Parks board member Rick Cofer and Council member Don Zimmerman have decided to forgo the tickets, under the grounds of it being a conflict of interest. Sabine Romero expressed in an email that it's okay for the Mayor and council members to accept the tickets. Council member Ora Houston gave the passes to 3-1-1 operators as a thank you, and Ann Kitchen's staff used theirs, and suspects that they will use the passes next weekend as well. I personally think it's a bit strange, if only because we have to save up money and pay for our tickets, while they not only get tickets for free, they're VIP tickets.

2. There has been a stay in all death-penalties, because when they were trying to give someone the lethal injection, the prison was sent the wrong drug. Texas and Virginia have solved this by trading the drug. Midazolam is a short acting sedative, that has proved very unreliable, and because of it being unreliable, drugs for lethal injections and death penalties are becoming increasingly hard to get a hold of, and are causing all these mishaps to occur.

3. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel barred his ministers from visiting a contested old city holy site, and ordered the police to stop members of the Parliament from going there as well. He did this because he did not want to alter the status quo at the site. Arab members of the Parliament said that they did not agree with the decision and would defy it by ascending to worship at al-Aqsa on Sunday. Muhanad Halabi is a law student at Al Quds University who was shot and killed by Israeli security forces after stabbing two Orthodox men and wounding one of their Wives and toddler son.

4. Svetlana Alexievich, a Belarussian Journalist and prose writer won the Nobel Prize "for her polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering and courage in our time." She is most famous for her deeply researched works on female Russian Soldiers in WW2 and the aftermath of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. It is a rarity for her to have won the prize, because her works are mainly non-fiction. Sventlanas' works often blend literature and journalism. She looked to the future with determination and contentment.

5. Prof. Daniel S. Hamermesh was scared to teach at UT, because of the increased risk of the concealed carry law, and is refusing to teach his class next fall. The American-Statesman got this information by interviewing Daniel. He is the first teacher to actually follow through with the threat of quitting, which makes it a kind of "first" there. He had originally retired last year, but agreed to teach his large lecture course until 2017, so the law is not the only reason that he is quitting.

FREE-RESPONSE

  Column: PhoneSoap
The PhoneSoap thing cleans your phone in minutes because apparently our phones are 18 times dirtier than a public restroom toilets, which is disgusting. The contraption uses UV-C light to penetrate the cells and destroy the pathogens. I, personally, did not know that my phone is that nasty, and now I don't want to touch it at all. I think that it would probably be a good investment if you have problems with germs, but other than that, I don't think it's really something that I would buy.

The electronic edition of the paper obviously isn't the same as a normal paper made newspaper, because it's electronic, but other than that i think the layout of everything is the same because what would be the point of changing the layout of the newspaper just because it's electronic? What's nice is that you can look at the older editions of the newspaper, without really having to go somewhere and root around for it, and that goes for that days news as well. It's more accessible to people in general, really. For example, if you don't get the newspaper delivered to your door, and you want to read it, then you can just subscribe to the electronic edition. Plus, it might cut back the amount of paper that is used for the paper copies of the newspaper

Current Events Assignment 3

1. The Popes' central message was that we as a nation should not let money drive its decisions at the expense of humanity. The speech was delivered to Congress, and by giving this speech, he is now said to be the most humble and invigorating Pope in recent times. Tons of people were super excited about it, one woman saying that it changed her Faith. The Pope was invited to the event in which he gave his speech by Leland Butler, who has been a member of the Parish for many years.

2. Regarding the two football players who attacked a game official, there is still speculation that racial slurs might or might not have actually caused the incident. The students will be allowed back at school on January 15th, but the Coach has been fired and banned him from coaching at UIL- sanctioned activity. Mike Motheral, the Chairman of the committee, said that he was frustrated that the center figures in the incident did not show up to the trial.

3. more than five dozen parents and students protested outside of Maplewood Elementary school on Thursday morning, they had gathered there because they wanted the school to bring back a former sixth grade teacher. The district took this action because kindergarten classrooms can only have twenty two students per teacher, and they were short a teacher in kindergarten, but because of this, there is only one sixth grade teacher who is teaching both gifted kids and kids with learning disabilities, so some students aren't learning at the pace they're comfortable with, and it is causing lots of frustration within the community. The same thing happened at Bryker Woods Elementary, and the district let the teacher stay at the school.

4. Sen. John Whitmire wanted to know if the law will preclude school districts from banning openly carried firearms in parking lots, sidewalks, et cetera. The law takes place on Jan.1st.

Observation 400 words

Senior picture day was hosted in the small gym on September 29th. Most of the Seniors were lined up against the left wall, facing the remaining Seniors (which was a very small number of people) who were getting their pictures taken. Close to the right wall there was a rack of formal wear for the girls and boys that were still getting their pictures taken. In the large gym people were playing Volleyball, most of them looked as though they were female, but who knows. It smelled of dirty feet and wood polish, as most gyms often do. It was awfully quiet compared to when I got mine done. There was a line of backpacks on the wall closest to the door. They were small, mostly jansport, and looked very light; which is kind of surprising because my backpack is pretty bulky, and I would have expected seniors to have quite a bit of stuff. Most of the noise I heard was coming from the line of students that may have already taken their pictures. The only sound heard from the picture setups, were the photographers and the actual cameras taking the picture. The light in the gym was rather fluorescent, and cast a harsh yellow light on the polished wood. It also made the room very bright, so it took some getting used to. The walls were a sandy beige color, and were smoothed with a sort of polish just like the floor was. About halfway up the wall it changed to a white paint over brick scenario. On the wall the waiting seniors were sitting at, the wall transitioned into smooth, multi-toned brown brick. There were about 4 basketball hoops around the room, one to each wall, and the ceiling was very high, with beams running from one side to another, and was painted white as well; although it was looking a little shoddy paint job wise. The lights hung from the rafters, but instead of the rectangular lights that we have in classrooms, they were sort of bulb like in shape. The line for the pictures was relatively short compared to the line for the formal wear, and it seemed like most of the seniors were sitting by the wall. Right next to the students was a teacher on his laptop; and right next to him were about three or four tetherball poles without the actual tether balls on them.

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Many boys are wearing tuxes. Back packs are v small, not as big and bulky as mine. More boys than girls. Smells like feet and wood polish. Clothing racks for formal wear to change into. Flashing lights from cameras. This is a senior picture thing for yearbook. Lots of  blue and black. Not as loud as i expected-probably got here later than most of the seniors. There is a line of people (maybe got their pictures already?) by the left wall chatting idly.

Ada Moore on things she's good at!

"I've been singing since I was super little. When i was a toddler I'd just be going around my house just singing or whatever. The same goes for drawing, I was constantly drawing. The first picture I ever drew was of my dad. He looked like a potato.

Current Events Quiz #2

1. Yesterdays Presidential debate allowed the competitors that were falling behind, to get screen time to assert that they still mattered, and were there to win. Donald Trump is reflecting his lead in the national polls that determine participation.

2. CIA Director John Brennan and other important people, were at UT for the unveiling of 2,500 documents given to JFK and LBJ in the 1960's. Before his speech at a ceremony in Bass Concert Hall, the CIA had been working to make the declassification possible, and the documents are now available on the CIA website. PDB means Presidential Daily Briefs, and the ones from the 1960's capture the evolution of the Vietnam War, problems with communist student protests, and conflicts with Cuba, Africa, and the Middle East.

3. Hungary officially closed its borders, so now migrants/asylum seekers cannot cross the Hungary-Serbia border. They also fired water cannons at them, which you should definitely not do, ever. Because of the razor wire fence Hungary put up, the refugees are having to take alternate routes. Which is dangerous, because some of these routes are riddled with landmines.

4.  Ahmed Mohamed is a Muslim boy, who brought a clock he made to school to show to his engineering teacher. The teacher called the police because they are afraid of Muslims, and are also racist. The school staff escorted him outside after searching a 14 YEAR OLD BOY, and they said later it would have gone down exactly the same way if the person were of a different religion or race. Which is a lie. People were furious about the ordeal, and President Obama tweeted saying that the clock was cool, and that he should have been celebrated. Especially considering it took him 20 minutes before bed. The Irving City Council endorsed a bill that forbid judges from rulings based on foreign laws.

ESSAY QUESTION

I first heard about Ahmed through Tumblr, and I think that when it comes to newspaper editions of such controversial things, they might be better. Because journalists tell the facts, what they know (or at least most of them do), and nothing is really saturated with objectivity and biases. Whereas on social media there is no need for that, because social media is all about speaking your mind, and what YOUR views are. So, where one person might believe one thing, and talk about their side of the story, someone else is going to argue the exact opposite, and people make things up all the time online. The news value of this story has a lot of proximity and conflict, i think. If only because racism is a huge thing all around the world, and terrible things happen to POC all the time. I probably wouldn't have changed where the article went, because I agree as to where they put it. It's a political and cultural issue and it think the articles that were on the same page were also relevant to our society and things that need to change within it.

Current Events Quiz

1. UT is under fire because the two men they hired committed a hate crime against a gay man back in 2004. He wouldn't talk about the hiring of Darren specifically, but he did say that all employees have background checks done and are researched pretty well, and that if it turned out a teacher or staff member was indeed charged of something a full scale investigation would follow. I'm not exactly sure what I think right now, because if UT is supposed to have such a thorough background check and etc, why they wouldn't have figured it out before they hired them. But on the other hand, I don't think that UT would willingly hire people who have done such horrible things, but that just might be wishful thinking

2. The deal was a 6.4 million dollar settlement for the death of Freddie Gray. The Mayor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, said that the settlement would be in the best interest of the city, and that they would "avoid costly and protracted litigation." There aren't any other pending cases going on in Baltimore according to the article

3. Vice Chancellor Sig-Mar Gabriel announced yesterday "that the Migrant flow is only escalating amid a humanitarian crisis that has sharply tested European cooperation and fundamental policies such as open borders." Some people have criticized Germany for "offering benefits so lucrative that they had become an incentive for asylum seekers to risk their lives over land and sea."Germany, in response, said that they would reduce the cash handouts, and instead focus on offering more food stamps and in-kind aid. Most of the migrants are from the war between Iraq and Syria. Germany is taking the "Lion's share", which is an estimated 8,ooo dollars.

4. Sen. Ted Cruz invited Donald Trump to his anti-Iran nuclear deal rally. Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are friends, but the other candidates really don't like him. Ted Cruz invited him because Donald can draw in crowds and get the attention of people pretty easily. I understand that they are rivals when it comes to the campaign and what not, but Donald isn't really a target at all. They have a pretty decent relationship.

5. Hillary Clinton used a personal email connected to a privately owned server, so that her emails would not be as easily accessible then if she were to have used her government email. The two republicans are considering seeking immunity orders for a former Clinton aide. Co-mingling means to join, blend or mix. Hillary's apologies and reasons were pretty inconsistent, things were apologized for and then all of a sudden, she felt to regret or guilt for any of it. Hillary was also very slow to admit her mistake when she voted for the invasion of Iraq.

6. Two High School students hurt an official at a football game. The assistant coach for the team has also been suspended for telling players that "this guy need to pay for cheating us." Allegedly the person injured had been using racial slurs against the players, and it made them angry.

"Donald Trump's nonexistent problem with GOP women"

So, I'm pretty sure we can all agree on the fact that Donald Trump is a misogynistic idiot who has no idea what he's doing. I feel like that's something everyone should understand, but apparently Republican women find him refreshing. That him not being political correct EVER is a good thing. Which to me makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, because they are the people he is disrespecting! He makes an enemy out of everyone who isn't white, cis, or male etc, every time he opens his mouth, that much is crystal clear. So, why is it that people continue to find him funny, or "refreshing" like so many of the Republican women do? He isn't particularly smart, he doesn't know how to debate anything, and is one of the most petty people I have ever had the displeasure of knowing about. He would be a terrible president and I don't understand why anyone would vote for him! Then again I'm not a Republican

The reporter does a nice job. The event is current and relates to me very well on many levels. The topic also brings up controversial topics, such as racism, sexism, and just everything bad about America in general. I think the most important news value would probably be either human interest or conflict. The reporter used polls, crowd sourcing, validity, research, secondary sources, and a survey maybe. I think they did the topic justice. Really, I think that anything against Donald Trump is good, BUT they were pretty thorough with research and staying pretty unbiased.

Stupid Creationist Biology Teacher is stupid

to begin with, I would probably interview some of the kids in the class that the power point was shown to, and then talk to the teacher, because he's the one who showed them the power point, and because he said it was on the district website I would check to see if the powerpoint was actually on the district approved list of power points, and if it was, I would see if i could get a teacher to download it for me, or just download it myself if possible. because, if you didn't, then you would only have the word of a bunch of fourteen year olds to rely on, and that is not enough to go on.

wow yay things
